Tectank is a company that develops software for various economic activities, but mainly with a focus on e-commerce and its respective evolution. Pedro Roque and Pedro Pereira are the partners of this company that aims to differentiate itself from others by having a team ready to speak a less technical language – accessible to those who are not so familiar with technology – and that can solve the problems presented with solutions that directly impact the client’s operation.

Tectank focuses on the development and support areas but emphasizes that support is the area with the most gaps in this industry. What are the existing gaps and how does Tectank propose to help solve them?
The main gaps are excessive waiting; abuse of technical terms; acting mechanically; lack of historical record of the customer; solving the problem but not its origin; alignment with a technical focus instead of focusing on the customer’s business goals. Tectank acts by establishing priorities according to the objectives of each business, that is, we prioritize the resolutions with a direct impact on the operation of each client, we train the team to speak the same language as the “normal” client, who has no technical knowledge, to be able to diagnose and solve any challenge quickly and effectively.
What digital services do you provide to your clients?
All services related to e-commerce, from its development, launch, promotion and consulting, software development, digitization of companies and processes, web applications, digital marketing, management, and technical support, among others.
The e-commerce area stands out from the others in Tectank’s proposals. What solutions exist that you would like to highlight and how are they characterized?
Yes, indeed. As we know, the e-commerce area has grown exponentially in the last few years, and entrepreneurs who invest in this area are quickly faced with two challenges: technical support and digital promotion. Many have chosen to hire in-house resources to be able to continue with their business, a costly and usually limited solution, while others have hired in-house resources to
usually limited, while others have hired external IT and digital marketing services from
This solution is operationally complex and tends to be inefficient, as the two areas are often dependent on each other. To solve this problem, Tectank created the GESTANK solution, so that the business owner can only take care of his business since all the digital technical support and promotion are done by our team. All this for less than an internal employee with a low-wage internal employee.
What are the difficulties that national technology companies face when they arrive in the digital commerce universe?
One of the biggest difficulties for Portuguese companies is still the challenge of keeping talent. Mainly due to the increase in telecommuting, the number of national programmers being recruited by large multinationals has increased considerably. However, the magic of digital business is exactly the possibility to compete in a global market and, as we’ve seen several times, “David can overcome Goliath”.
Is Portugal a country with a market where e-commerce may become the main means of commerce for the population? Or will the tradition of physical stores remain?
In my opinion, a physical store is an open door to a locality, and an online store is an open door to the world, but they are certainly different experiences for the client, many times even complimentary. Most likely the physical stores will remain, but most of them with more powerful and comprehensive online extensions.
How does Tectank plan to evolve, in the short/medium term?
We intend to move towards creating digital solutions that allow SMEs to facilitate their daily operation and exponentially increase their sales. We are currently finalizing a solution for SMEs where the control of the daily operation, human resources, sales, and digital marketing will be just two clicks away. This solution will have different versions for five very relevant sectors in our economy.
